Hello Laja Women. Last week I promised you that I’d be back with more stuff on why a being woman is your greatest achievement. And here I am. To begin with, first things first.

Why are you known as a woman?
What identifies you as a woman ?
How do people recognise your self to be a woman?
The simplest answer would be – “Because I look like a woman !”
But the apt answer would be – “Because I have the body of a woman !!”

Oh, the sore point of every woman’s life !!! Her body ! How we have hated this body, because of its shape, colour, texture, size and yes even the monthly menses. How we wish we didn’t have to bear this nuisance every month. Isn’t it? I know, I know we are evolving and we are learning to say, “I love this body of mine. I love me as I am. I am beautiful.” But do we really? Every month when we get our periods, we forget about loving our body and curse it a few hundred times and wish that it did not exist.

What if I tell you that our monthly menstrual periods are the very thing that make us special ? And not just because we can brith a child and men cannot. That’s an old story. Let me take you a step forward and tell you how beautiful your body really is. Rather, how wonderful it is to be born in a woman’s body.

A woman’s body is a miniature form of the whole universe. There is a universal cycle of birth, death and rebirth in every element of the world around us. You, as a woman, live this universal cycle in your body every month. A woman is nature incarnate. Prakriti. You, as a woman, live the seasons of nature in your body every month. A woman’s body is closely connected to the moon as well. You as a woman live the cycles of the moon in your body every month. There are 13 moon cycles in a year. And you, as a woman, go through 13 menstrual cycles every year. Isn’t that amazing ? And this is only the tip of the iceberg.

Our menstrual cycles are a boon, not a curse. We are the chosen ones to bring love and life on this planet. When we begin to really really love our cycles and feel grateful for it, that is when we can stop having painful periods. That is when we can stop having women’s problems like PCOD, ovarian and cervical cancers, fibroids, breast tumours, autoimmune diseases, vaginal itching, abscess’ and skin breakouts, and depression, difficult pregnancies, heart disease, diabetes, obesity and other gynaecological problems. I am not denying accidental and the age related and lifestyle related degeneration of our bodies. But any healer worth her salt will tell you that a lot of our ailments begin at the mind level. Our negative thoughts affect our bodies adversely and create psycho-somatic symptoms that later develop into full blown dis-eases. We can heal our bodies by changing our thoughts about our bodies.

This weekend we had Maha Shivratri and the New Moon in the zodiac sign of Pisces. The energies were very high and a good opportunity for us to connect with the God-Goddess and Moon energies to enhance our intuitive, creative and manifesting abilities. And if by chance you had or are having your periods around this same time, then your personal energies are heightened to connect with the higher energies in yonder heavens. But most of us get caught up in the headaches and body pains and mood swings and fatigue and irritability during such times. All because we don’t know how to sync our personal energies with the rhythm of the universe. We forget that we are so blessed to be able to do this because we are in the body form of a woman ! Is it any wonder then, that we have been kept away from religious activities during those sacred days of bleeding, nahi toh aurat sar par chad jayegi, hai na ? Our menstrual blood is our strength and we have been taught to hate it, so that we cannot get closer to the heavenly guides that can help us make life powerful in the real sense of the word for ourselves and of course others around us. Because we, women never eat alone, do we? We always share !

Imagine, we are entrusted by our Creator Gods and Goddesses to brith and nurture life on this planet. We are made co-creators and given the powers of the universe in our bodies. We are called to bring in the love and correct the imbalance between the masculine and feminine energies on our planet. Isn’t that a great honour of this lifetime ? So when we love everyone else but not ourselves and our bodies, how fair are we being to ourselves ? And by hating our being as a woman, aren’t we being ungrateful to our Creator Father and Creator Mother ?? Isn’t it time we begin to love our menstrual cycles and give it the due respect that it deserves ???

I’ll see you again next week with more about the joys of being a woman !
UNTIL THEN .. Remember…
